About the Event

Intermodal Europe 2026 opens at Rotterdam Ahoy on Tuesday 10 November and runs until Thursday 12 November 2026. Run by Informa Markets, the annual show has brought the container transport community together since 1975: equipment manufacturers, container lessors, shipping lines, forwarders, intermodal operators and technology providers. For rail freight people, it is where the equipment and flows that feed container trains between Europe's ports and their hinterland are negotiated.

What's on

Two stages host the conference. The Intermodal Theatre covers the strategic and operational side of containerised transport, while the Future of Freight Theatre focuses on technical innovation. Listed topics include interoperability, AI, supply chains, container trading and finance, tank containers, sustainability and transport planning.

Speakers named by the organiser include representatives of DCSA, Drewry, ING Bank and the Hoyer Group, as well as the Secretary General of the European Shippers Council. Exhibitors announced include Maersk, Triton, SeaCube, Carrier and CAI International, with stand space reported as 95% sold.

Is it worth it for rail?

Strictly speaking this is a container and maritime logistics show rather than a rail fair. Its value for rail lies in the audience: shippers, carriers and equipment lessors are the people whose choices shape combined transport and port shuttle trains. RailFreight.com is among the media partners. In the TrainsNews team's view, the show is of high interest for freight operations and of limited interest for other rail disciplines.

Passes and registration

The free Visitor Pass covers the exhibition floor, open conference sessions and the event app. The Executive Visitor Pass (€450 excl. VAT) adds every conference room, the networking party, meal vouchers for all three days, the VIP meeting lounge, fast-track badge collection and eligibility for the APM Terminals Maasvlakte II port tour. Pre-registration is strongly advised to skip the queue; badges can be printed on site or shown in the Intermodal Connect app.

Getting there

The organiser says Amsterdam Schiphol is about 30 minutes away by train and Rotterdam The Hague Airport about 20 minutes by bus and tram. Zuidplein metro station is a five-minute walk from Ahoy, and the venue offers more than 2,500 parking spaces. The organiser also warns about scam emails offering hotel rooms: only book through the partner listed on the official website.
