About the Event

RailX, a new rail and mobility conference and exhibition, will hold its first edition at Dubai World Trade Centre from 31 May to 2 June 2027. It is organised by Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) under the patronage of the Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, with Chinese train builder CRRC as founding organising partner. The RTA announced the event on 14 September 2026.

At a glance

  • Dates: 31 May-2 June 2027.
  • Venue: Dubai World Trade Centre.
  • Organiser: Dubai RTA, with CRRC as partner.
  • Format: conference and exhibition.
  • Expected size: 5,000+ participants, 60+ exhibitors and 70+ speakers (RTA).
  • Theme: "Building the Future of Rail and Mobility".

Five programme pillars

The conference is built around five pillars. Reach looks at connectivity across the GCC, the Middle East, Africa and South Asia, corridors, high-speed and intercity rail, and interoperability. Advance covers AI, automation, predictive maintenance, digital twins, cybersecurity and electrification. Invest deals with PPPs, sovereign capital, green bonds and sukuk, and transit-oriented development. Link addresses national and urban strategy, multimodal planning and governance, while X-perience focuses on service quality, stations, smart cities and MaaS. Cross-cutting tracks cover passenger transport and freight, including trade corridors and dry ports.

Market context

According to the RTA, Dubai Metro, opened in September 2009, carries 40% of the emirate's public transport ridership and has handled nearly 3 billion passengers. The Blue Line is due in 2029 and the Gold Line tender is expected in late 2026; together the two lines are worth about AED 55 billion and will extend the network from 90 to 162 km. RailX is part of the RTA 2030 strategic plan and the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan.

Why attend

For train builders, suppliers and engineering firms, RailX offers direct access to the client behind Dubai's next metro lines just as tenders are being prepared. In the TrainsNews team's view, it is of solid interest across signalling, rolling stock, infrastructure and operations.
